Ten Ethical Fashion Labels: Sustainable and ethically produced clothes
Since a number of years, sustainable fashion brands are sweeping the globe. This is why I decided to create a list of ethical fashion brands. If you are wondering what makes a sustainable fashion brand, or which European brands have sustainable fashion, then you’ve found the right place.
Since I can remember, I have always been interested in fashion. It was only a few short years ago that sustainable footwear and accessories, or ethical jewelry brands began to appear all over the globe. Perhaps the movement began with Stella McCartney’s sustainability decision in her brand. Maybe it started at the same time people began to choose a slower lifestyle, whether in food, transportation or now in sustainable fashion brands.
What makes a fashion label sustainable?
If you don’t understand why and how you should do this, it doesn’t matter if you buy the best ethical fashion brands Germany offers or the best ethical jewelry brands. Just because a company labels its products sustainable, doesn’t necessarily mean that they are. Sustainable fashion brands are transparent from A-Z.
The best sustainable fashion brands have information or pages about their partners in the environmental and human sectors on their websites or stores. The best sustainable fashion brands will explain how they source or make their fabrics (if applicable). As more people are embracing a sustainable lifestyle, we’re seeing more and more companies engage in what is now called Greenwashing. This is a marketing technique and advertising that makes people believe that a brand is environmentally friendly.
Sustainability information and labels
How can you tell if a company is sustainable? You can find out all about the brand’sresponsibilities for sustainability on their website. Look at the labels on clothing and shoes to see what fabric is used and where it was made. It does not make a product unsustainable because it was made in China or India. As a result, more and more brands are partnering with local factories to provide a higher standard of living.
The best brands of sustainable fashion are usually also more expensive. The fabrics must strike a balance between their sustainability and the environmental impact. The brand’s ethics, or how it treats its employees, wherever they may be, must also meet the highest standards. A brand cannot have a sustainability label if it cares deeply for its employees, but pollutes a lot to transport their products from one country to another.
Ten ethical fashion brands: Sustainable and ethically produced clothes
We now know the qualities that make a fashion label sustainable. It is time to explore a wide range of these brands. I decided to create a list that includes the best European, but also other sustainable fashion brands.
This list includes the sustainable Cuyana, but also the Icebreaker Sustainability. This list of ethical fashion brands contains all the information you need to know about sustainable fashion brands. Let us know what your favorite sustainable fashion brands are!
1. Cuyana: Minimalist and Sustainable Fashion
Cuyana, a sustainable fashion brand that promotes a responsible style of dressing, is included in our list of the best sustainable brands. The sustainable Cuyana is a great example of a fashion label that has clearly defined goals and a timeline.
They believe that owning less, but better, things is a good idea. In 2020, they committed to achieving 100% sustainable materials by 2022. They produce in small batches and responsibly. 96% of collections are made from sustainable materials. The aim is to make your wardrobe last longer.
Cuyana deserves to be on our list of ethical fashion brands. Cuyana is one of the most beautiful high-fashion sustainable brands out there.
2. Atelier Parsmei – The Incredible Sustainable Fashion Label
Atelier Parsmei has become one of the most sustainable fashion brands in today’s market. Transparency and respect for humans and the environment are what make a sustainable fashion label. Atelier Parsmei is therefore included in the list of ethical fashion brands.
Some of the sustainable high fashion brands on this list are European sustainable fashion brands. Who knew? The brand is known for its high-fashion designs for women and children. The brand’s offer is interesting because they have amazing designs for women and children. There’s a good reason why Atelier Parsmei was mentioned in Harper’s Bazaar Kids and Hooligans. Atelier Parsmei, a company run entirely by women, is one of the UK’s top sustainable fashion brands. In all senses of the word.
3. Icebreaker Natural Apparel
Icebreaker is a sustainable fashion brand that I could not include in my list of ethical fashion brands. Icebreaker is a sustainable fashion brand that comes in all shapes and sizes. The brand’s core principle is sustainability. It refuses to use plastic on the skin of its customers. Nature is the inspiration for their natural and sustainable clothing.
Icebreaker was founded in 1995 by Jeremy Moon as a reaction to the overuse of chemicals during production. Icebreaker has been working since 1995 to eradicate all synthetic fabrics from fashion. They prefer to work with Merino Wool, which is natural and good for the environment.
4. American Giant: Sustainable Fashion For Men
The American Giant Sustainability relies on a single simple idea to make it one of the most sustainable fashion brands by 2021. The American Giant Sustainability fights big corporations with simple clothing designs.
The company believes that it must be innovative and genuine to offer a new way to dress to the world. American Giant says that when you purchase their sustainable fashion, you support a movement for the environment, the local community, and durability.
5. Synergy organic: Ethical fashion
Synergy Organic, a sustainable fashion brand that revolves around ethical values, is one of those brands. Kate Fisher founded the brand during her first visit to Nepal in 1993. She was blown away by the textiles and fabrics she found only in South East Asia. Three years later, in her hometown of California, she and Henry Schwab decided to focus their efforts on eco-conscious clothing.
Synergy has been added to our list of ethical fashion brands because it uses organic cotton, low-impact dyes and offers a humane working environment for all its employees. Each person who works on Synergy’s organic clothes is well trained and treated with respect. It allows us to make a more informed choice and be a better steward of the environment.
6. KINdom: Upcycling in Style
KINdom is the answer to your question about what makes a brand sustainable. This company has been included in our list of ethical fashion brands because they use fair-trade methods to make their clothes. This brand is all about Nature with a capital “N”. The materials used are recycled, natural and reclaimed.
KIMdom’s hangtags are made from unbleached cotton and printed with water-based dyes to minimize their environmental impact. It is one of the most sustainable fashion brands available today. This is because it connects people with each other and the nature to us. KINdom even uses bioplastics made from vegetable-based materials for the packaging.
7. Stella McCartney: Ethical Fashion
Stella McCartney’s sustainability is known around the globe. It is one of the most sustainable fashion brands in UK. The fashion industry was surprised when a luxury brand took action to make their brand more sustainable.
Stella McCartney is the daughter of Paul McCartney. She was born in London, and she graduated from Central St Martins. This school has produced some of today’s most recognizable sustainable high-fashion brands. In 2001, her luxury fashion house launched and became a major player among European sustainable fashion brands. Her designs are often bold and almost masculine. Stella McCartney makes our list of ethical fashion brands because she incorporates eco-consciousness into her clothes, perfumes and eyewear.
Stella McCartney, one of the most sustainable fashion brands in the world, has won many awards. These include the WWD Honours Corporate Citizenship Award, given in New York, or the Green Fashion Award, Ground Breaker Award, presented in Milan, in 2019.
8. Alternative Apparel
The Alternative Apparel Inc launched its sustainable fashion in 1995. This is not a brand that can be considered 100% sustainable. Alternative Apparel Inc’s sustainable fashion is a real effort to improve the world.
It was once a stand-alone brand and is still on our list of ethical fashion brands, despite being purchased by Hanesbrands in 2017. Alternative Apparel is a brand that I think you should keep an eye on to see what the future holds in terms of sustainability and ethics!
9. Slow Fashion: Beyond Retro Upcycled
I’ve said it: Beyond Retro will be one of the most sustainable fashion brands by 2021. I can’t imagine a world without vintage and upcycled clothing brands. It’s because this vintage institution only collects the best retro-wear. Beyond Retro has a wide range of vintage clothing labels dating back to the 1960s.
This sustainable fashion brand has stores in Sweden as well as the UK. You can find a number of addresses in London. It’s always exciting to discover old, new treasures in vintage stores. Vintage clothing is unique and should be worn by everyone.
